About Sunset Lights

Sunset Lights was founded by Brad Baur, a North Raleigh resident who spent ten years lighting homes for friends and family before turning it into a business. He watched Raleigh fill with architecturally striking, higher-value homes and noticed the same thing again and again: owners who had invested heavily in how their homes looked by day, with nothing to show for it once the sun went down. Sunset Lights exists to change that.

From the start, Sunset Lights was built to be boutique, not a churn-and-burn operation. Brad is the expert and the face of every project. He does not hand you off to a sales closer or send a crew that has never met you. He shows up himself, speaks your language, and designs with a real eye for lighting and architecture. In a market dominated by a large, twenty-year company running eight trucks and fast, generic installs, Sunset Lights is the intentional alternative, the company that treats your home like it is the only one on the schedule.

That care shows up in the details. Where most crews use one fixture and one bulb for an entire property because it is fast, Brad uses application-specific fixtures, matching the beam spread and brightness to each feature, so a column stays crisp and a roof peak gets a soft, even wash. Every design balances the three things great outdoor lighting should do: make the home beautiful, make it safer to move around at night, and make the whole property feel secure. Brad is trained through the International Landscape Lighting Institute and the Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals, and that craftsmanship is the standard on every install.
