What does Sunset Lights do?
Sunset Lights is a boutique lighting contractor in Raleigh. We design and install premium outdoor lighting, including year-round landscape and architectural lighting, seasonal Christmas light installation, permanent lighting, and outdoor audio. Everything is custom-designed for your specific home rather than installed off a template.
What areas do you serve?
We are based in North Raleigh and serve the greater Raleigh area and surrounding Triangle communities, including Cary, Wake Forest, Morrisville, and Rolesville. Being local means we know these neighborhoods and can come back whenever you need us.
Who will I be working with on my project?
You work directly with owner Brad Baur. Brad designs and oversees every project personally, so there is no sales closer and no crew that has never met you. That owner-led, relationship-first approach is the heart of how Sunset Lights operates.
What makes Sunset Lights different from other outdoor lighting companies?
Most crews use one fixture and one bulb for an entire property because it is fast. We use application-specific fixtures instead, matching the beam spread and brightness to each feature so the lighting looks layered and intentional. Sunset Lights is also trained through the International Landscape Lighting Institute and the AOLP.
Do you offer a free design consultation or demo?
Yes. We come to your property and show you what the lighting will look like on your actual home before you commit, at no cost and no obligation. Seeing it on your own house is the best way to decide.
Do you install lighting year-round, or only during the holidays?
Both. Landscape and architectural lighting is our core, year-round service, while Christmas light installation is seasonal, running roughly October through January. Many clients start with one and add the other over time.
Can I get permanent lighting instead of putting Christmas lights up every year?
Yes. As a certified Omni installer, we can mount a discreet, year-round system of app-controlled LEDs along your roofline that all but disappears in daylight. Run warm white on any ordinary night, then switch to holiday colors, all from your phone, no re-hanging each season.
Do you install outdoor audio too?
Yes. We design and install weather-ready outdoor audio that delivers even sound across the whole yard and blends into the landscape. It pairs naturally with landscape lighting, so one app can run both your lights and your music.
Can I control my lighting and audio from my phone?
On most projects, yes. We can add smart-switch integration so you can schedule your lighting or run it from your phone, and our outdoor audio and permanent lighting systems are app-controlled. Many clients expand this to other lights around the home over time.
How much does a project cost?
Pricing depends on the size of your home and the scope of the design rather than a flat rate. We offer a value fixture set and a premium set (premium adds a lifetime guarantee and higher light quality), and every project starts with a free on-site design and quote so you know the number before anything begins.
