Sunset Lights is a boutique lighting contractor based in North Raleigh, owned and run by Brad Baur. Brad spent ten years lighting homes for friends and family before making it a business, and he still designs and oversees every project himself. He started the company after watching Raleigh fill with architecturally striking homes whose owners had invested heavily in how they looked by day, with nothing to show for it after dark.

What sets Sunset Lights apart is the design eye behind every install. Most crews use one fixture for an entire property because it is fast. Brad uses application-specific fixtures instead, matching the beam spread and brightness to each part of the home, so a column stays crisp and a roof peak gets a soft, even wash. Because the company is owner-led and trained through the International Landscape Lighting Institute and the AOLP, you work directly with Brad from the first walkthrough to the final adjustment, and the craftsmanship shows in the details.

I have an older home with an old lighting system. The lighting on the trees had failed. Brad trouble shot the problems, replaced old wiring, repaired bad connections and got the lighting back in full operation. But it’s his attention to detail that is where he excelled. He re-aimed the lights. The trees never looked this good.
